“Water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink”! So true, Isn’t it? We are surrounded by so many people, and yet so few who, really mean well! This is what runs in my head, when I’m amidst an ocean, It has so many life lessons to teach. It gives me a sense of purpose, and direction to life. Looking over, makes me realise how tiny I’m in front of the mighty ocean, and how humble I should be. Someone has quoted this well, “Life is like the ocean, it can be calm and still or rough and rigid but, in the end it is always beautiful”. I relate my moods, to the way ocean is, and it all makes so much sense to me! No wonder it is so close to my heart! Today’s story is about one such trip of a lifetime to a beautiful destination. Yes, it is Key West, Florida.
It was my birthday weekend, and I was extremely excited! Initially, the plan was to visit Turks and Caicos island, southeast of Bahamas, another paradise on earth but, it didn’t pan out well, within the short duration of time in hand. My husband, and I have taken an oath to travel!! Our dream is to visit as many destinations as possible, preferably the ones with beaches 😛 So far, (1 year, and a half since we’ve been married), we’ve travelled to Hawaii, Cancun, Cozumel, Bahamas, and Florida. The list also includes 12 other states we’ve travelled to! Our goal is to cover the 50 states in the US, before we move on to the world. Just because, we know there are so many hidden gems that we would like to explore. I would be extremely if we could tour the rest of the world simultaneously. And, the irony here is, we haven’t covered India, we hope to do it sometime soon.
So, we flew to Miami, and drove to Key West. You can fly directly to Key West but, we were told that the drive was gorgeous, and it was indeed. The Florida Keys is an archipelago, forming the southernmost point in the United States. On the road to Key west, is the seven mile bridge, and the stretch is beautiful, with ocean on both your sides. I was just spell bound, was extremely eager to get into the water. We stopped at Bahia Honda State Park, unbeatably one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. Clear, shallow waters, closer to the shore, sandbars as we walk further, and azure blue ocean beyond our eyes can possibly see. It was breathtaking. After spending couple of hours, soaking up the soak, we made our way to the final destination, Key west. I had few close friends who made my day by making the trip with us, and I had an awesome birthday. At the stroke of midnight, and my cake was,any guesses?? A Key lime pie!! 😛 So, the next day we went to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, below are the pictures from the beach. Isn’t the water colour just gorgeous?? 😀
Moving on to the outfit, I wore this teal short dress that has a drawstring at the waist. I decided to go with colour blocking, and used royal blue tone as a contrast. I kept this look simple, and added minimal accessories. I paired it with a choker necklace, and my favourite pair of gladiators. And, that cute little bag you see is a gift from my baby brother 😀 I had to stress on it because, it is the cutest thing ever ♥
Have a great weekend peeps! 🙂
