√√ Culottes and Checks √√

February 18, 2016

Hello peeps! How are you all today? I’m back with an interesting look! As we are slowly transitioning from winter to spring, I take a cue in blending clothes from both the seasons. By now, I’m sure you all know how much I loathe the cold weather, and lucky me ,I live in Texas. It is warming up lately, the temperature stays pretty warm during the noon, and gets kinda chilly in the evening.

So, in today’s post I’m featuring my new favorite, I’m totally in love with it. I’m talking about “Culottes”. These are the most comfortable pair of pants (Next to joggers!) that has made a huge comeback this season. I’ve been asked by some as to what’s the difference between palazzo pants, and culottes. So, palazzo pants have a cut like trousers with a loose, extremely wide leg that flares out from the waist. Whereas, the culottes are usually more structured, high-waisted pants resembling a skirt but, still hit at or slightly below the knee. These have the look of a skirt, and feel of a pant. I remember wearing something similar during my school days, we had something called “Divided skirt”. It was mandatory to wear these skirts because, it gave us the freedom to run, and play like guys, and without having to worry about any, you know “Bottoms up” or any other wardrobe malfunctions! (I’m sure my friends from school would be smiling when they read this). Well, to this date, it works really great. Though, I love skirts, I personally am more comfortable with pants, just because it is so easy to work with them. So, I picked this one last year sometime in July, and I have been wanting to post a look but, I had too many other outfit options. And also, styling these pants can be tricky but, it also depends on what kind of look you wanna achieve. Here are a few ways you can style them:

  1. Montone: Pick same shade of top to match your culottes , and throw in some dainty necklace for an evening look
  2. Add a trenchcoat
  3. Pair it with a shirt/sweater, or layer both on top of each other with sneakers for a casual look
  4. Throw in a blazer on top of blouse for a more polished look
  5. Mix patterns and prints with your culottes for a boho look

I decided to mix up a few of my own. Since, my culottes are plain, and solid, I paired them with a window pane checks top. I tucked the top to give this look a structured appeal. This whole look seemed soft, and feminine when, I paired them with the shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I do like it but, I needed it to be a bit more edgy for my liking. So, I layered it with a quilted bomber jacket to complete the look, and also to feel warm 😀  So, this spring and summer is all about the new, loose cropped trousers. Trust me, I didn’t feel like stepping out of it, and it has earned its keep in my closet:P Let me know how you’d pair your culottes! I hope you all liked today’s post, please give it a thumbs up if you did. And, don’t forget to share your comments with me. Have a great day 🙂
