Aren’t these gorgeous?? Wondering what these are?? Read on!! ♥
I’m in the spirit of celebrating Raksha Bandhan this month. It is an Indian festival celebrated by the “Hindus” throughout the world. The literal meaning of “Raksha Bandhan” (In Hindi) is the “Knot of Protection”. One of the most celebrated festivals mainly, in the northern region of India (This year: 29th of August). The significance of this festival is to showcase the beautiful relationship of love, care, and affection; shared between brothers and sisters or between men and women who, share the same relationship. An everlasting promise of protection is made on this special occasion, strengthening the bond between siblings. .
As a part of the ritual, a sister ties a “Rakhi” (a sacred thread) on her brother’s wrist; prays for their prosperous future and a long life. The brother vows to protect and take care of her at all times and under any circumstances. Similarly, “Lumba rakhis” are tied (Also, worn as bangles) to a “sister-in-law” by her “brother-in-law”, establishing sibling-hood. These rakhis hold a great emotional and religious value. This festival is celebrated to retain the deep rooted culture of the country alive.
